Youth & Family Ministry
Our Youth and Family Ministry is also under development. We are
working to form the leadership of this vital ministry while we continue
to uplift the important partnership between the congregation and the
family in forming youth into disciples of Jesus Christ. To this
end, the Youth and Family Ministry of New Horizons Lutheran Church will
be guided by the following themes:
-
Faith is formed by the power of the
Holy Spirit through personal, trusted relationships in the congregation
and in the home.
-
The Church is a living partnership
between the ministry of the congregation and the ministry of the home.
-
Where Christ is present in faith, the home is church too.
-
Faith is caught more than it is taught.
-
If we want spiritual children and youth, we need spiritual adults/parents.
"Most certainly father and mother are apostles, bishops, and
priests to their children, for it is they who make them acquainted with
the gospel. In short, there is no greater or nobler authority on
earth than that of parents over their children, for this authority is
both spiritual and temporal. Whoever teaches the gospel to
another is truly his apostle and bishop" (Martin Luther, 1522).
