Summertime Greetings!

Good Works Are Our Way of Life...

In the biblical book of Ephesians it says,  "By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God --- not the result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are what God has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life" (Ephesians 2:8-10).

In other words, because God saves us by grace alone through the free gift of faith, therefore we do good works as our way of life!

The good works of hospitality, inclusive fellowship, social justice, generosity, and so on, are our WAY OF LIFE --- just like our Lord Jesus lived-out...

Congratulations Rhia Fry-Wilkin...

Congratulations Rhia for your approval as a pastoral ministry candidate within our national church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)!  We hope and pray that you will be able to sell your house and move to Wartburg Theological Seminary, Iowa, this summer.  We love you and will miss you, but we know that you will make a great pastor and carry the progressive spiritual banner of NHLC out into the wider church!

O Lord Jesus, grant your gracious guidance and strength to Rhia and her family as they look toward moving for the sake of her seminary education.  In your holy name, we pray.  Amen.

Holy Communion Instruction Recognition...

At NHLC Holy Communion is open to all people -- including young children according to the discretion of their parents -- by the invitation of the Lord Jesus himself.  So while Holy Communion instruction is no longer a prerequisite for receiving it, we still provide formal instruction at some point between the 3rd and 5th grades.

Please click on the following Facebook link to view the six wonderful kids who completed Holy Communion Instruction in 2010 and received their Communion instruction certificates on Pentecost Sunday:

Summer NHLC Youth Activities...

We essentially learned from Randy Young at the February 8th ministry meeting that it takes a village to pass on the Christian faith to our youth.

Consequently, if you have an idea for a youth service project at some point in the next 4 months, please go ahead and take the lead and coordinate it. Or, if you have an idea for a youth fun event in the next 4 months, please take the lead and coordinate it. Or, if you have an idea for a youth fellowship event, please take the lead and coordinate it.

Many heads and hands make light work (and more effective work too), and the same goes for Junior/Senior High youth ministry...

Confirmation Class Has Resumed...

Confirmation Class is every fourth Sunday of the month at 4:30 PM at the church office.

Driver Mower...

The church property is in need of a rider mower. It is just too much to continue doing with two push mowers, so please keep an eye out for a quality used rider mower on Craigslist or Freecycle...

Regular Sunday Schedule...

08:45 AM - Set-up
09:30 AM - Bible Study for Adults
10:30 AM - Worship Service
11:30 AM - Snack & Fellowship Time

The grace and peace of Jesus Christ be with you all...
